age is a golden age. When most of the person sit
ideal at their home, he came out of the house and
started participation in veteran games as well as
upgrade his academic qualifications..

He did M.A.
Punjabi at the age of 54 and B.Ed at the age of 56 and persue his M.Ed at the
age of 58. When most of the Government teacher retired at this age.
His maiden appearance in Punjab veteran athletic games was in 1994
and he clinched the Silver medal in high jump at the age of 54.
S. Gurdial Singh
Adhen was born to Smt. Kishan Kaur Lotay in Pakistan on 22nd
November 1940. His father S. Kehar Singh Lotey had agriculture land
at Lahore. S. Gurdial Singh Adhen was only seven years old when
partitioned happened, overnight his well to do family became penniless.
He have to leave is ancestral house and settled a Sutanpur Lodhi.

S. Gurdial Singh Adhen did his matriculation with first division
in 1956 from Government High School Sultanpur Lodi, Distt.
Kapurthala, then he got the job in Railway workshop. During
job he did 2 years diploma in apprentice. He continued his
studies while doing job in Railway. He did BA in 1964 and then MA economics
in 1972. After
worked at the railway for 15 years and decorated him self with
master degree Aidhen left for Oman in 1973 At Oman he
got Government job in water supply and transport. He
came back to India in 1991 after spending 18 years at
Oman. |

After came back to
India in 1991 he did
B.Ed from Jammu
University.
In 1998 he perused M. Ed at the age of 58. He also did 2nd MA in
Punjabi in 1994.
He had participated in athletic events, while studying in school. He
used to help his father in farming which makes him physically sturdy. When
he got silver medal in high jump at the age of 54 , it encourages him
and he decided to make name out of it. |

In 1995
he improved his standing by securing gold medal in long
jump and high jump in Punjab meet. In the national veteran
athletics meet held at
Mysore,
Karnataka in 1996. Adhen got bronze medal in triple jump. In the
next edition of the national meet held at Kanpur. He won gold
medal in long jump. In 1998 national veteran at Mumbai. The
veteran athlete secured gold medal in triple jumps. In 2001 he
succeeded in getting first position in long jump and triple jump
at Pune veteran games. Besides playing he writes poems in
Punjabi also. During my visit to
Amritsar
at "Bhai Bandi" he recites a beautiful poem in praise of Guru
Angad Dev Jee. S. Gurdial Singh Adhen is a soft spoken personal
and love by all. He is vegetarian and firm believer of "Waheguru".
S. Gurdial Singh Adhen married to Smt
Pramjit kaur Sidhu, she was also a good teacher. The couple is
blessed with a son and a daughter. |
