Dr Jagtar
Singh Sandil(Dr. Jagtar Dhiman) is a
multidimensional personality. He is a scientist, a poet
and a good painter. He completed his entire
education with scholarships that were awarded to him for
his hard work. He is post doctorate from the esteemed
Horticulture Research International, UK. He has been
associated with the development/ testing of
varieties of fruit, vegetables, flowers, crops
and oilseeds. He was
awarded with commonwealth scholarship for Post-Doctoral
Research in UK. |

He is very good at drawing and painting. His art
work was recognized when the Society of Mycology
and Plant Pathology, Udaipur and Indian Society of
Plant Pathologists, Ludhiana adopted the emblems
designed by him as their official insignia. As a
poet his creation, "Dewdrops" (poetry book)
is due to be released
soon.
Dr
Jagtar Dhiman was born to Smt Ved Kaur Jheetay
in Kartarpur town in Jalandhar Distt
on 1st day
of year 1957 (1-1-1957).
His father S. Amar Singh is a well known personality
of Kartarpur. He is awarded with Pride of our
Industry (Furniture) on Vishvakarma Day (2002) |

Dr Jagtar Dhiman did his matriculation from DAV High
School Kartarpur in 1972, then completed his
graduation and post graduation from Doaba
college Jalandhar and Punjab Agricultural University,
respectively. With his meritorious academic
record, Dr Jagtar Dhiman, remained a
scholarship holder during his entire education
stretch. He always top ranked in all
examinations that he appeared in. After
completing his PhD in Plant Pathology he joined
Punjab Agricultural University. Currently he is
working as a senior Plant Pathalogogist at the
P.A.U., Ludhiana.He gives credit of his success
to his parents and teachers.

He presented his
research paper in several national &
International Conferences. He delivered 9 TV
and 11 Radio talks for the benefit of the
farmers. The PAU, Ludhiana recognized his
contributions by awarding him with an advance
increment in 1993. In 1991 PAUTA Award was also
conferred to
him
Dr Jagtar Dhiman is Executive member of many
sabha societies. He was elected as Zonal
Councillor of the Indian Phytopathological
Society New Delhi
(1997). Since his School days Jagtar Dhiman developed a
flair for writing effective English and has
therefore been
assigned duties
involving technical writing &
editorial

work. Dr Jagtar
Dhiman has penned down 62 original poems in English on
various topics involving human relationship and he
intends to publish his collection of self composed
poems as a poetry book by the name of "dewdrops".
Many of his poems speak of his deep love for
nature. He frequently makes use of the words
fragrance, wings, pupils, cactus, moon, sun,
universe, eclipse, clouds, melody
etc.

He got married to Smt. Manjeet Kaur Galsian
daughter of S. Bikram Singh of Ludhiana on
18/11/1984. She did her matriculation from
Ramgarhia Girls School in 1973, then graduation
from Govt. College for Women Ludhiana. Then MA
economics from Govt. College Ludhiana in 1979.
Then she joined as lecturer at Sidhwa College
Ludhiana where she served for 2 years and later
joined Khalsa College for Women. Lecturership did
not
lure her so she left and joined Punjab National
Bank and now she is working as a chief cashier in Jawadi Branch Ludhiana. The Couple is blessed with
2 sons Jaskaran and
Mankaran.
