Spirit of patriotism runs high in the blood of
Brig. Mastinder Singh Seeray. He lost his right
foot, while carrying out mine field recovery in
Poonch, J & K Sector, during "Operation
Cactus Lilly" in 1971 Indo Pak War. His right
foot was blown off by deep buried mine. He was
awarded Sena Medal for gallantry, for
saving the life of troops and devotion to duty.
Even then he allowed his son to join the Army
despite his own disability. An example of
patriotism. His son had opted for 103 Engineer
Regiment which he had also served. " | | | |

Brig Mastinder Singh Seeray was born to Smt. Swaran Kaur Salh
on 8th April 1950 at village Purrain, Distt Ludhiana. His father S.
Bachan Singh Seeray was SE (Civil) and died in harness. Mastinder
did B.E. (Mechanical) from Mysore University, M.Tech (Heat,
Power & Refrigerators) from I I T Powai, Bombay, MBA with
honours, from Pune University and PGDCA, from Ministry of Science
and Technology, Dept of Economics. |

After
initial military training at Indian military academy,
Dehardun, he got commissioned in Corps of Engineers. His first
assignment with troops after Young Officers course was with
103 Engineer regiment in Rajouri sector of J & K. Then he
regularly upgraded himself and did different course i.e. Basic
Works Management Course, CME, PUNE, JAWC, from college of AIR
Warfare, Regimental Commanders Course etc. In
September 2002, he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier and
posted as ACE (Works) in Eastern Command, Kolkata, after one
year and 2 months in November 2003 he was posted as CE,
Chandigarh Zone. After successful tenure in Chandigarh Zone he
was posted as ACE (Works), in headquarters Western Command,
Chandi Mandir in February 2005 and continued till his
retirement.

He did high level management appointment involving
complete planning and budgeting of army works of Western
Commands covering the states of Punjab, Haryana,
Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, and Jammu &
Kashmir. It encompasses control and coordination of five
zonal Chief Engineers and detailed planning of civil
engineering works and infrastructures works involving
electric supply, water supply and sewerage disposal
scheme in over 40 army stations. In
September 2002, he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier
and posted as ACE (Works) in Eastern command, Kolkatta,

Son
Major Harmanjit Singh Seeray was born on 9th September
1977.
While accompany his father during his service he had wide
exposure to various Indian cultures and way of life through
out our great country enriching is knowledge and respect for
nation. He was very much impressed with the respect enjoyed
Indian army officers. As a young boy he had decided to join
Indian army. After completing his Plus two form KV,
Secunderabad in May 95 he joined National Defence Academy,
Khadakvasla, Pune in Dec95.He got commissioned in Cops of
Engineers on 11th Dec 1999.Maj Harmanjit Singh Seeray married
to Smt Jaspreet Kaur on 20th June04, she is
pursuing her post graduation in English. The couple is blessed
with a
